My Shoes of Fashion stories: Buy or recycle shoes?
Not the first time happening to me about my shoes. Choose shoes that accompany my held the next day … I wear them, I go to the office and chan! I look at it carefully and realize that tapilla is about to eat the taco or non-existent. This anecdote, which I care only, has made me think of little use much and give fashion to certain objects and mainly to the my shoes … How many times you repeat the same shoes? How many shoes you buy a year? What do you do that you no longer use?
Buy or recycle shoes?
Some time ago I got mad by doing an “audit” of all my shoes. How did I do? I took them one by one and photograph on a white background. My idea was sincere my “collection” and specify exactly how many actually use and which not. Of the latter wanted to understand what led me to stop wearing them and what to do with them.
The result of this cumbersome process, I know sometimes I’m a lazy and bred, showed me I had 76 pairs of shoes (with and without cue, including slippers, sandals and Hawaiian) of that total was often used only 20 (27 %). There were 44 (58%) and rarely wore no 11 (15%) that I put them on a couple of times and never touch them. The “unused” had in common to be very pretty on the outside, but a tool of torture inside. Very tall, very tight, narrow (several have bought over the Internet and find that I do not fit well after the first use), very destructive of feet. No matter the adjective or adjective would like to add, its use involved a masochistic act, which clearly was not ready to live.
What did I do with my shoes? With the pain of my soul, because I liked them all in color, design and / or style, and almost all have potential to “inherit” – I decided to give away. The criterion was simple: the boots were beautiful girls I wear them when they give them to a friend who has a foot guy and would appreciate the design. The other shoe style “Nutcracker” in beautiful style, it’s happen to my mom and sisters to let them decide whether or ceded to third parties. The process to dispose of them was not easy, but at the time that the stock got to thinking that perhaps one would give him more pleasure than to me. Because in my case, I stopped long ago just to buy shoes “dress my feet,” I do it because they reflect part of my identity, I show my love for detail and my need to walk firmly, without fear of what the others expect of my shoes.
But what policy would take over my shoes? Would you stop buying? I have those already recycle, checking if they are in good condition and managed to continue using them?
1 – I decided to give away all that was not going to use people who promised me that would put them. My idea was to inherit in life, having the certainty that would fulfill the function for which they were created and would provide more “junk fashionista” the planet.
2 – review the status of my shoes and fix spoiled before they pass to the morgue, because I have clear there are some that I use almost like “boss.” In addition, the shoemaker warned me that at this rate of “destruction” finish changing the plugs and not tapillas (I had to scrape by the nonsense several blocks).
3 – I would try to buy less, and would favor the comfort and design, more than any other factor. The idea is to buy shoes that actually use it. My “audit” would help me review the colors and styles that I have in my “catalog” personal, so to identify with why I can combine and what others may join as a contribution to my existing wardrobe.
It is clear that the shoes are a female fetish and desire to have it is almost uncontrollable. However, the environment and my commitment to ethical consumption has made me reflect on how to help keep the industry alive without becoming a fashion creative garbage. The work is not finished. How are you performing like my shoes?
